Film Noir Evaluation
Film Noir is a movie in black and white which were taken in 1940's, most films were about detective. The genre is thriller and it was a american and french film.Film Noir is a french and american. The original time period is around 1940 to 1954.Most film noir movies are about detective so the clothing style would be fedora hat with a over coat and formal wear. I was told to make a replicate picture of film noir which was a easy task but we had to take so much responsbility with the cameras and the equitments.
I looked on google images for film noir images and found 10 different images, later I put it on my blog and I had to answer some questions.The first image that inspired me was two image in one picture (one see through and one background image). The picture was a man trying to access the front entrance and there was a see through curtain which made the image look good because it was a simple picture and the image had a strange message.
The second picture was a tunnel and people were walking which looked like 1940's routine where people go work and school. The pictures do relate to film Noir because it was black and white and the clothing code was the same.

This image I couldn't replicate it because my time management wasn't good but the reason I chose this picture because it had a dark and scary message.
The main three lightings for film noir are;

I was told by mark to research on google images 4 image to replicate and it has to be film Noir so I picked 4 images and replicated in lesson. My first picture was a tunnel and people were walking towards it. I replicated, the location was in college, courtyard, I used students from class to model for my replicated image. Later I edited on Photoshop and the only that I had to edit was changing the colour to black and white (film Noir)
I used colour filter on image and changed it to black and white.
My second image was a man was accessing a entrance so I replicated and my location was front entrance of city Adams building. My model was a classmate and I took some test shots and decided my final shot. Later I edit it on Photoshop and used colour filter vigneting tool which was on gradient tool and another image was a curtain and made it see through because it would match my original picture that i'm trying to replicate.
I only managed to get two images done because I did not manage my time properly. Next time I will plan my schedule and will work efficiently, making better use of time. I plan to avoid distractions, possibly using my headphones so I can concentrate.
I explored the settings on the lumix camera and took some test shots, later I scrolled through them and chose the one with better quality and sharpen image.
I used Adobe Photoshop to edit all my replicate images. The often tool we used was colour to change image colour to black and white and I also used gradient tool to make my image look darker, I used crop tool on some images but not all.
I can use a better camera next time and take images from different angles. I have to work on my time management. if i want to go on a higher grade I have to work harder produce more details. My pictures matched but next time I will use a different location.
I learnt how to use camera and Photoshop, I also improved on filming and my acting skills.I also improved on talking to new people and my confident level.
Mostly but I didn't manage to finish the actual 4 photo shoots but my images replicate really to the research pictures, I managed finish all my proposal for the pictures and I also managed to do one poster. My poster is A4 and it matches the client brief.
The poster meets the client brief as it says it has to have credits and a movie title which I already had and the picture has to be black and white and all my photos are black and white which is a clear sign of film Noir films.
